With training across Contemporary/Modern, Jazz, Heels, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, and Acrobatics, she has performed at prestigious venues such as the Orpheum and Shannon Hall, earning awards and recognition for her artistry. At Optima Dance, Tyra has choreographed and taught dynamic works that inspire students and push creative boundaries. Known for her power, precision, and expressive storytelling, Tyra continues to make an indelible mark on the dance world.
My Story
Tyra Lex is a formidable force in the dance world, celebrated for her artistry, versatility, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Beginning her journey at the age of seven, she trained rigorously through her competitive years before reigniting her passion for the stage at 20. That return marked a new era in her career—one defined by innovation, discipline, and a drive to push boundaries.
Specializing in Contemporary/Modern, Jazz, and Heels, Tyra’s performances are a rich blend of precision, emotion, and power. Her training also extends to Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, and Acrobatics, giving her a well-rounded foundation that elevates her artistry across multiple styles. Whether on stage or in the studio, she approaches dance as both a discipline and a form of storytelling.
Tyra’s talent has captivated audiences in prestigious venues such as the Orpheum and Shannon Hall, where her performances have garnered critical acclaim and awards. Her dynamic stage presence and technical mastery have also been recognized at Optima Dance, where she has been nominated for a variety of accolades, including the Smiles for Days Award (best facials), the Musical Genius Award (best musicality), the Legs for Days Award (sharpness, flexibility, and tricks), and the Bejeweled Award (outstanding performance quality). These honors highlight her ability to merge athletic precision with expressive artistry, making her a standout in every setting.
Beyond her achievements as a performer, Tyra is equally passionate about choreography and teaching. At Optima Dance, she has choreographed and staged numerous works, including pop-up class pieces and dances showcased across four semesters at Shannon Hall. Her teaching reflects the same dedication she brings to performance: inspiring students to embrace individuality, pursue excellence, and discover their own voices through movement.
