Tyra Lex emerges as a formidable presence within the dance world, her journey marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation. From her early beginnings at age 7 to her competitive years and eventual return at 20, Tyra's dedication to her craft has been unwavering. Specializing in contemporary/modern, jazz, and heels, she brings a rich tapestry of styles to her performances, complemented by her mastery of tap, ballet, hip hop, and acrobatics.
With each step, Tyra has left an indelible mark on the stage, earning acclaim and recognition for her remarkable talent. Her performances at esteemed venues like the Orpheum and Shannon Hall have garnered her prestigious awards. Additionally, her dynamic presence has earned her nominations for a plethora of accolades at Optima Dance, including the "Smiles for Days" award for best facials, the "Musical Genius" award for best musicality, the "Legs for Days" award for sharpness, flexibility, and tricks, and the "Bejeweled Award" for outstanding performance quality.
Beyond her accomplishments in performance, Tyra's influence extends to her role as a choreographer and instructor at Optima Dance. While she has crafted two pieces for pop-up classes, her impact resonates through the numerous dances she's contributed to across four semesters at Shannon Hall. With an unwavering commitment to pushing boundaries and inspiring others, Tyra continues to shape the landscape of dance, leaving an enduring legacy in her wake.
