Taylor Chwae graduated from the Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago in 2016. There she studied various techniques and styles of modern dance, ballet, West African, contact improvisation, improvisation and dancemaking, dance studies, and teaching. In May 2016 she earned BFA in Dance with a Minor in Arts Management.
With her passion for teaching dance, she is an instructor at Dance Infusion, Ltd and at Sherwood Community Musical School, is a teaching artist for Design Dance, and teaches Music & Movement at Pulaski Park.
Taylor grew up dancing in Madison, Wisconsin. There she trained at Dance Studio 3-D, Stewart Performing Arts, The School of Madison Ballet, and Midwest Performing Arts. With Madison Ballet, she performed in The Nutcracker (Arabian Corps 2008-2010) and Cinderella (Ball Guest, partnered with a professional company member, 2010). She additionally trained with the Academie Americaine de Danse de Paris (summer intensive 2009), Ballet Chicago (Advanced Summer Intensive 2010), and attended various CNADM and Dance Masters of Wisconsin workshops.
In 2013 Chwae performed with and choreographed for MCVD as a member of the company, also taking her choreography to Vermont for an Emerging Artists showcase at Phantom Theater that year.
