Justin Athey

From Dodgeville, Wisconsin, Justin began dancing at a young age and enjoyed dance styles such as Hip-Hop, Jazz, Lyrical and Country Line Dancing.  After earning his bachelor’s degree in Health Promotions at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 2009 he decided to pursue dance full-time.


Justin has danced and trained under some of the fiercest Hip Hop and Jazz dancers/choreographers to date.  He has also trained under “Dancing with the Stars” ballroom professionals, Tony Dovolani and Julianne Hough.


In 2011 Justin was discovered by DDO talent agency out of Nashville, TN, which afforded him some amazing opportunities in the music entertainment industry.  Justin’s first professional onscreen appearance came in 2011 when he was chosen as a supporting dancer in a music video for the country duo, Big and Rich. In this music video, called “Fake I.D.”, Justin was cast as one of 20 dancers chosen to take part in the well known line dance scene from the 2011 remake of “Footloose” that starred Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormwald.

In 2012 Justin was given the opportunity to work as an Artistic Director with the award winning Trey Fanjoy, who has directed over 150 major label music videos and is widely known for working with popular CMT artists such as George Straight, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, and Taylor Swift.

Justin has appeared in numerous Country and Pop music videos.  He has performed live on stage in front of thousand and has also been cast as an actor in various commercials such as the Taylor Swift Sony Commercial and the 2012 CMT Awards Promotional Commercial with Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.


Justin is also the creator and director of Mad City Hustle.  Mad City Hustle is an hour long group fitness dance class taught every Saturday morning from 9:00am-10:00am on State Street.
