Beth Piccolo is a four year company member with Madison Contemporary Vision Dance. She danced from 2014-2016, but returned for our 2018 season! Originally from the Kenosha, Wisconsin area, Beth began dancing at age five. At age sixteen, she started her training at a pre-professional ballet school under the direction of Alyce Keaggy-Brinkmann. Following high school, she continued her dance education at UW-Milwaukee, earning both a BFA in Dance and a BA in Education (sub-focus on American Sign Language). While at UWM, she had the privilege of studying under the direction of Ed Burgess, Simone Ferro, Luc Vanier, Elizabeth Johnson, Ferne Bronson, Dani Keupper, Janet Lilly, and many others. UWM also provided Beth with many opportunities to study dance with guest artists including Timothy O’Donnel, Garth Fagan, Trey McIntyre, and Ed Morgan.
During her time at UWM, Beth was selected to perform in “Water Studies”, a piece originally choreographed by Alwin Nikolais and reconstructed by Alberto Del Saz. She was even given the opportunity to perform this historic piece in New York City. Through UWM, Beth was also able to travel to Brazil twice. She first studied abroad, learning about the culture and style of Brazilian dance. She was later selected by Department Chair Simone Ferro to document research on the Bumba meu Boi in Sao Luis.
Beth currently teaches various styles of dance at A Leap Above Dance in Oregon, Wisconsin where she enjoys sharing her knowledge of dance with her students. Beth was also an apprentice dancer with Li Chiao-Ping Dance.
