Andrea Henry is originally from Brazil, Sao Paulo. From age eight, she danced at Cecilia & Greice Kerche Academy. In her teen years, she joined the Joyce Kerman Co, followed by Steps Dance Co, Paula Castro Co and joined a TV show called “Viva a Noite” which sealed her love of performing. Andrea was invited to train for world aerobic gymnastic competitions, which she devoted time to first obtain the championship of the State of Sao Paulo followed by 2nd place at National Level. After the first two victories, her two key sponsors of sports were M2000 and Brazil and Mizuno. Japan supported further competitions and events in Korea, France, Holland and Germany, where Andrea also lived for one year teaching dance and fitness. In 1997, she was accepted to University of Sao Paulo, where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. In the same year, Andrea started her yoga journey in Hatha Yoga under the instruction of Paranamanda. Fascinated, she read every yoga-related book she could find. After 6 months of full time dedication, Andrea started teaching in her own space.
Andrea moved to Wisconsin Dells in 2001 and has performed and taught with the Madison Ballet, Ballet University, Spotlight Dance Academy, and Broadway Dinner Theatre. In 2004, she opened her own space, Dells Dance Center. In 2009, she travelled to India to study yoga at Ashram Mangalatan in New Delhi. Andrea received her yoga teacher certification after spending four intensive weeks of deeper studies. Andrea has been married for 16 years to Robert Henry, Landscaper, one daughter, Jennifer Henry, 14 years and one son Christopher Henry, 12 years.
Andrea previously danced with MCVD in 2013 and 2015. We are thrilled to have her back for our 2018 season!
